Our dearest executive manager Olaf Malden is going to leave China. We at Wonders of Yunnan said goodbye to him with mixed feelings of sadness to see him leaving, yet happiness to see him expanding his horizons.

In June 2017, a group of over 50 students and their teachers from various Hong Kong schools (La Salle College, the St. Paul's Secondary School as well as the Pui Tak Canossian College) took part in our South Of The Colourful Clouds Tour throughout Yunnan. Great fun for all people involved!

Other than the majority of Chinese public holidays, the International Worker's Day or Labour Day (劳动节 – láo dòng jié) or more colloquially "May Day" (五一节 – wǔ yī jié) is not tied to the lunar calendar but is celebrated on Mai 1st like in many other countries all over the world.

The Tomb-Sweeping Day, or Qingming Jie (清明节) how it is called in Chinese, is a traditional Chinese festival beginning of April, on which ancestors are remembered. Usually families use this holiday visiting the grave yards of their ancestors, sweep the tombs and put down offerings.

According to the Yunnan Transportation Department, it is necessary for passangers traveling overland by bus to personalize the tickets. This regulation is valid from 1. April 2017 and means that for every passenger buying bus tickets, the ORIGINAL passort or ID card is required.

Yunnan has recently been confronted with more and more illegal travel services, offered by people or former tour guides pretending to run travel companies. As a legal tour operator, we put great importance on legal quality services and would like to point out some basic guidelines for bookings.
