The Water-Splashing Festival (Poshuijie / 泼水节 in Chinese) is the New Year's or Spring Festival on the calendar of the Dai people, an ethnic group living in Yunnan's south and southwest. This year, the festival takes place from 13. to 15. April. Bring your water guns!

With an average elevation of around 2000 meters above sea level, Yunnan features huge differences in altitude: while Yunnan's north borders Tibet and the Eastern Himalayas (up to 6740 m), the subtropical landscapes of the south are not higher than 100 meters.

Yunnan is famous for its beautiful scenery and pleasant climate - perfect for holiday and relaxation. But it's also getting famous for something completely different. Have you ever heard of 100k ultra marathons at elevations of over 3800 meters and other unique running events?
